Use Dropbox to automatically back up your genealogy database files. Protect and share your database using safe and secure online storage. Dropbox saves your data on your local computer and online (up to 2GB free). This is perhaps the best tip I've ever used. Click here to get Dropbox free. In your genealogy program, just place your database in the Dropbox folder, tell your program to use that file in that location on your hard drive, and voila - instant automated backup of your database. (Bonus tip: I do the same for my genealogy photos, too.)
